National Skills Academy
The National Skills Academy for Power will
address current and future skills shortages to
establish the UK as a global leader in power,
including renewable energy sources and to
ensure that we can maintain a secure supply of electricity.
This will help keep our lights on, keep transport on the
move and manufacturing in production. The electricity
industry is facing a range of significant skills challenges
including high levels of retirement, strong competition
for skilled people and massive infrastructure renewal
and refurbishment programmes.
The National Skills Academy for Power will respond to these challenges by working in partnership with the electricity industry to deliver the right skills at the right time and to the right standard to maintain security of supply. For the first time, employers through the NSA, will take a national approach to Power Sector skills needs and related provision, identifying gaps and avoiding duplication. The Academy already has excellent employer and stakeholder commitment from across the industry.
The vision of the Power Sector NSA is to become an essential part of Power Sector operations driving excellence in skills capability and capacity whilst ensuring connectivity across the sector and with other skills organisations and stakeholders. During the development of the NSA we will be aiming to grow number of Power Sector employers involved in the NSA.
This is a great opportunity in which we would like you to be involved and which we would be delighted to discuss with you further. If you would like to know more about how you can be involved in the NSA please contact either Sue Gill (sgill@sgillservices.co.uk) or Sue Guest (sguest@rsgservices.net) of Energy and Utility Skills.
