Power Sector Skills Strategy Group (PSSSG)

The Power Sector Skills Strategy Group (PSSSG)
established in July 2007 is the power sector collaboration
group on skills strategy. Members include senior
managers / directors from the major power sector
companies, contracting organisations, supply chain
companies, Government partners, trade unions,
trade associations, and employer / professional bodies.

The purpose of the PSSSG is to address the strategic skills issues across the power sector with particular emphasis on the skills activities for medium (2-5 years) and long term (5-20years) collaborative action. The PSSSG will support the sector wide delivery of a long term, sustainable skilled workforce.

The PSSSG, supported by Energy & Utility Skills, operates a network of working groups that develop and deliver actions for the long term needs of the sector. The working group structure is set out below:

The Stakeholder Influence working group is responsible for the development of the sector skills strategy, the stakeholder influence strategy and associated communications.

The Marketplace for Skills (MFS) working group leads on the development of the sector brand and actions to deliver the sector attractiveness strategy

The Skills Provision working group is developing sector wide standards and qualifications frameworks across all skills levels.

The National Skills Academy for Power was endorsed for development by Government in October 2008 and is now in its development phase with a projected full establishment in late 2009.
